85 years old docking facility- African Marine

The African Marine and General Engineering Company, located at the port of Mombasa, Kenya serves as the key to bringing the port of Mombasa on the global map, as it connects and serves trading vessels from Europe, the Cape, India and the Far East. Established in the year 1928, it is headed by Mr. Shazmeer Jiwan who is a trailblazing businessman and entrepreneur.


With over 85 years in the business, AMGECO boasts of a breadth of experience from ship repair and dry docking to specialized marine engineering. Some services offered at the port also include Bunkering, Berthing & Mooring, Ship Chandling, EPZ Facilities & Heavy Engineering. In order to cater to the rapidly evolving Kenyan economy, AMGECO’s competitive rates along with its skilled engineering force, have received national and international recognition. It has in fact enhanced Mombasa as a port and established its importance as a vital ship repair center.

It has always been the priority of African Marine and General Engineering Co. Ltd and its leader Mr.Shazmeer Jiwan, to meet the high quality standards and workmanship expected by their customers. This fact can be well perceived from AMGECO being awarded the ISO 9002:1994 Standard in 1997 which it still holds. The company successfully renewed the certification in 2000 and is currently certified to the new Standard of ISO 9001:2008. It is the only dry dock facility to boast of this accomplishment.
